Today is another fine day for me. Hmmm, I manged to sell 2 BP set on my own. Not with the help of others...~ ok. Haha But then, I forgot to remove the batteries from the BP set, so free batteries for the customer lol. Well, I didn't get to dispense today lol:( Hope I can get to dispense tomorrow. After working here for some time, I realized that working in retail is not that bad after all. Serving customers is not bad. You get to talk to them lol. ASk them things, teach them how to use these and that. So you can feel the satisfactory lol. But of course, if you encounter nasty customers, then is too bad lol. So, to me now, whether it is retail or OP, so long as it is in the afternoon shift, it will be fine.ANother reason for me to like retail is that there are fewer staff there. If you do anything wrong in OP, some of the 'young' staff will say you lol. So ya, sometimes you will feel abit down. If you are in retail, the staff there will not really scold you, but tell you in a much nicer tone. That's what I feel la. Maybe it will be different from others'.

Time flies... Today is Su ZHen's last day at tpy polyclinic... Kinda of miss her cause usually got another person with you doing work. Now you need to be alone again. But well, when something go, something will come. Yup. Cal is now with us for 1 month. So it will be back to 3 people again.Anyway, today sales are pretty good. Hit something that the pharmacy never hit before. Can't believe we sold 3 BP meter within an hour, boosting our sales. Haha. Need to sell more. And one more thing... I got to dispense!!! Been waiting for this so long!!! But I didn't got to dispense for long, and is under the supervision of Mr Chan. The medications are not chronic medications. Dispense for 3 patients. I was damn nervous lol. The first patient I was like speaking so fast. Then I was like always in doubt, whether I got miss anything. Well, I feel that instead of teaching them, we should communicate with them. Then you will can sense the satisfactory of dispensing. It is the same when I tell patient about the BP meter. You can just feel the satisfactory when serving people. This is what I fell currently, maybe it will change when time pass...

I shall write about people I have met in tpy polyclinic this week.1. Michelle Tan.My sec school friend. Didn't realise she is also attach to tpy polyclinic as a nurse.2. Retail staff from Hougang Polyclinic pharmacy."Good morning, NHG pharmacy, Weijie speaking, how can I help you?"Weijie, how come you are in toa payoh and not hougang!?""Erm, sorry. I am not Yeo Weijie. I am the other Weijie.""Oh, didn't know that there is another weijie. I thought you are your Yeo Weijie. Both of your voice sound alike.""So how can I help you?""I am looking for Francy.""She's not in. Can you call back later?"Ok."What the hell... My voice is similar to Yeo Weijie's voice? ...3. Delegates from ChinaDon't need to say much. The trouble they brought us. WOnder what will happen if China Premier Wen Jia Bao come.4. Crazy wheelchair womanWell, as the name suggest, she is CRAZY. I didn't met her. But I can hear her screaming from the insider. The dialouge is in hokkien."Madam, your payment is $XXX.""Are you sure I need to pay so much!?""Medicines is ..., see doctor is...""Why do I have to pay so much!? I don't want the medicines!""OK. So you need to pay $12.30."
"WHy still so much!?""$8 is for the nurse (referring to lab or care manager) and $4.30 for doctor.""See doctor need money, see nurse also need money! I only want to pay $4.30!"The PSA try to explain. Then the old woman continue to nag."I am old. Cannot generate money anymore! Why I still have to pay so much money!!!"So, they ask her to pay only the doctor's consultation and then..."I only want to pay $4!!!"After that, the old woman continue to nag at her maid. I wonder her children got the money to hire a maid for her but then they don't have the money to pay for her medical fees. She contiune to nag for the next 20 min or so. Everybody in the pharmacy could hear her nagging. I pity the maid, who got to endure all this nonsense.4. C M YapAnother crazy woman. She was prescible an antacid for her gastric pain. But then she can actually make a fuse of nothing. She complain to the dispenseer about the medication and then she continue to nag. Well, this woman is notorious for being hard to serve. SHe can tell you all her stories and then suddenly cry. Practically, make a scene. Such a pity she is not into acting.5. Student from don't know where. He just came to me and ask me whether I sell MC. What the hell...6. Intelligent old manAfter the friday electric breakdown, this old man came to purchase something. Since the com cannot be used, I need to calculate all the items manually. He bought 7 packed of Vit B complex and a bottle of cough mixture. In the midst of calculating..."Boy, altogether $13.70.""Erm, ya."This one so easy to calculate and you still need calculator.""Uncle, I need to count correctly if not, I need to make up the difference.""You are young, so should use your brain rather than relying on the calculator. Look at me, my brain is still active.."Try to explain things to him again. But then he still continue to say I should use my brain. I was like what the... He thinks I cannot count is it. Think if I challenge him to a match of calculation, he would properly lose to me. Let me save his pride.7. Diabetic old manThis is the worst customer that I encounter so far since working there. I nearly quarrel with him. He was trying to buy glucose meter strip and lancet (aka needle)."Where do I get the strip and needle?""You can go to counter 1 to get the strip and come back here for the needle."He went to take a queue number and came back."Can I have the needle?""Ok. Here it is. $16.60.""Are you sure this is the needles? How can it be so expensive!?""Sir, this is the price. I am not lying.""You are lying to me!! Are you sure this is the needles? Can you that it is a strip from the outside of the box!?""It is really needle. The needle is closed. IF you open the needle, you will see the needle."No NO NO. (With his hand waving) I don't believe you! How can the needle be so expensive! I go there and check!"I was trying to explaing things to him but he did not believe what I say. This simply agiatate me and I nearly go into a quarrel with him. Catherine was like asking me to cool down. Even he go and check with the dispenser, the dispenseer will have not idea on the price and will still come to us to ask for the price. Such a stubborn old man I have seen. If he don't believe what I say, he can go else where and buy. ANd people will still tell him the same thing.

Power breakdown at tpy polyclinic today. Started off by having the internet connection down then followed by blackout. So all the process will disrupted. Prescription cannot be processed. Payments cannot be made. Only cash payment are allowed, no nets or credit/master. Items bought must be manually write down. The aircon was not working. Damn bloody hot. This just shows how man is so reliant on technology.Anyway, after the power was back again, the pharmacy was so busy. You can see prescriptions piling up. Power was nearly down again in the afternoon when the network was not connected. Luckily it did not breakdown. After hearing a conversion, I know what to give Zhen Jie for his birthday. Quite a practical thing.

Some VIPs from china came to visit tpy polyclinic. And because of these people, the whole polyclinic need to do some prepartation. Seating area in level 1 is reduced, means more people need to stand. Patient cannot come in by the front gate, they need to leave and exit by the back gate. For us, we have to forgo our break. We need to get back to work after we finish our lunch. Doctors waited from 2.30 pm to 4 pm for the VIPs to arrive. It was not really that busy in the pharmacy during afternoon. Not many patient came in the afternoon. A perfect time for those who hate to wait in the polyclinic to come for consultation. Was like slacking in the afternoon. Of course, retail sales are affected. In the end, the VIPs only walk around for about 5 min and leave. What the... Total waste of time. These VIPs are not those influential. I wonder if Wen Jia Bao come, how many patients will there be...

This means we need to count the tablets and write the label manually...Next month, China Premier Wen Jia Bao will be visiting TPY polyclinic. Of all polyclinic, why choose tpy...

Shereen came to have lunch with me yesterday. ANd then we also chat about attachment. More like a complaint session.6 weeks has passed since my attachment started... How fast time flies. Another 6 weeks and I will be leaving tpy... So what have I learnt during this 6 weeks??? Honestly, I don't really learnt much things. Everyday seems to be doing the same thing over and over again. Worst still, I have to write a DETAILED REPORT on 3 techiniques I have learnt during this attachment. Well, so far I can think of two:1. Filling Prescriptions (aka pick and pack)2. Cashering Duties3. ???Wonder what will be my third that I will be learning...Someone from another polyclinic got to dispense medications... And they are not those acute medicines, they actually include chronic medications. Envy that person lol.. So good. Get to try out real dispensing. HOw wish I also get to do it.Heard that SGH allow students to dipense. I am so looking forward to attachment at SGH...Anyway, all the best to those taking O levels exam tomorrow...

This week is the pharmacy week, so we are treated to a chocolate cake. The cake is so nice, especially the hazel nut in it. It was so unresistable... Haha...I think I am going to be black listed by NHG HR people... Well, I did not get my pay on monday, so I email them. I did not expect a series of email to be exchanged between the HR internal staff. And the emails were more like scolding lol. So, I still got my pay, but it was on the wednesday. The first time I get my pay. Haha.ANyway, the DWM list is out.... But... is not our diploma.. IS for precisiong engineering and nursing students... SO got to wait until 11 apr for the actual list to be out...This morning Miss Chia called me to enquire about my attachment. Then also chat abit. 2 more staff leaving... They are Miss Loh and Dr Xu lol. Miss Loh so fast leave. Not even here for about a year. So my attachment going to be take over by a new male lecturer (a pharmacist lol). Then got another female pharmacist, Miss Ong, joining us as well. Last but not least, got one chemist from GSK joining us. By the way, Miss Dyan has joined GSK (she simply just like manufacturing). That's all so far...

Well, today I made a serious mistake which could be fatal...I mixed warfarin 1 mg and 3 mg tablets together... If the dispenser has not checked carefully and the patient take it... I don't know what's going to happen... Even the person preparing it also did not notice...I didn't meant to made this mistake, but then the 2 things were place next to each other and I just don't know why I didn't see the 3 mg...This thing made me depressed for the whole morning...

today is damn busy. Think because of it is after a public holiday, that's why so busy.Today meet a petty customer. I just asked him for 5 cents and he gave me five 1 cent coins. When I refused to receive it and ask for a 10 cent, he threaten that if I do not accept it, he will write to the strait times and write a complaint. He continue to say that he got it from the bank so he is able to use it. So no choice accept his 1 cent coins. When, I thought of a solution to handle such a customer. In future, if they give me 1 cent coins, I will give them back their change all in 5 cents coins. And if they not happy, I will give them the same reason they give to me.

It's already one month since I am attached to tpy polyclinic. Reading from what Peggy say about her attachment, I sometimes feel that it is quite lucky to be attached to her polyclinic. I just feel that she is actually being treated as part of the people there. She got her iPharm account and she get to do other stuff as well...
As for me, sometimes I just feel that I am a CL... Being ask to do things that they require manpower in it... If you are attached in polyclinic, you should know what I mean.
Well, I hope I will get to do other stuff at tpy polyclinic and hope there will be more stuff for me to see when I get to SGH...

Ugly Customers Series 3An old man visited the pharmacy."What is the price of mentos?""$1.10." I pointed at the mentos box."No! No! No! The mentos!" So I realized he wanted the mentos strip."$0.80.""Ok I want one." So he asked me to take for him."Not this one! That one!" Seriously, why can't he take for himself."$0.80 please." When people buy sweets, they usually won't want a receipt. But for this old dumb dumb man..."Where is the receipt!""Receipt! You don't know what is receipt! Receipt you also don't know!"And then when I passed him the receipt, he walk off and continue to grumble.Apparently this is another nasty customer that 'patronize' the pharmacy. He can even be more ugly. I heard from the retail staff that he always demand expiry date and then will even scold the staff lol. This old man don't know how he live his life. Live until such an old age and the character can be so nasty. I wonder why such old people exist. I heard even his wife cannot tolerate his behaviour. $%^&Anyway, I heard from those promoters that hougang polyclinic always got interesting stories. talk about some of the hougang stories in future when I have nothing to blog about... Haha... I wonder if toa payoh will have such stories...

Morning was so busy. The system was lagging. So there will tons of prescriptions not process. So after the system is back to normal, we are busy picking medicines. I feel like slapping some callers."Good afternoon. Toa Payoh NHG Pharmacy. XXX speaking. How can I help you?""Is this Toa Payoh Polyclinic?" Obviously. Don't the caller check the number they are calling?"Which department is this" Didn't I already mention this is the pharmacy....I can tell you. You can receive all kinds of enquires from the pharmacy phone. Some ask for appointment, registration, and even breast screening. They think that the pharmacy number is a one stop number for toa payoh polyclinic. Well, cause the plastic bag that they bring home from the polyclinic is usually from the pharmacy. So it carries the pharmacy number instead of the polyclinic number. They should think of including the polyclinic number in the bad in future.

Yesterday went out with Tee Khan to city hall to walk walk lol. It seems that the shopping area is not for us. Wen to esplanet later. Like the outside of esplane and also the river. Walk from city hall to raffles place before boarding the MRT home. Can't believe it happen. When I reached home, I saw my mother's eyes red. Felt that something was amiss. Then later at night, he anyhow throw things. This make my mother angry and she started shouting. I was like totally helpless. Didn't know what to do. All I could do was just sit down and shiver. How useless am I....Sometimes how I wish there is a shoulder for me to lean on and cry...
